Roscoe, a German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix, was having a day like any other since he had arrived as a stray at the Humane Society of Park County in early February. After breakfast he headed out to the play yards with his pals. A quick dip in the pool, a little exercise and he was ready for a nice nap.
But today was going to be different. A call came from a local veterinarian. They needed a strong, healthy dog to donate blood for a dog in need. The shelter employees conferred. What about so and so? No, she was feeling a little under the weather. How about this one? No, he was a little too aggressive. How about Roscoe? Roscoe is a strong, healthy, young but not too young and well-behaved (as shelter dogs go!). The decision was obvious. Roscoe would go to the vet and give blood to help a fellow dog.
After being sedated, he spent the night at the vets and returned home to the HSPC the next morning to the cheers of the staff. The other dog is in stable condition and expected to recover. Roscoe is a true hero!
Roscoe was brought into the Humane Society of Park County as a county stray on February 4, 2006. A large, mostly tan/brown dog, he is often overlooked by potential adopters. Roscoe has received his rabies and other vaccinations and has been wormed. He passed his temperament test with flying colors, earning a green star. He is child and eat friendly. A true hero of the animal world, Roscoe deserves a loving home.
Please come and see if Roscoe would fit your family!
